Retro Neon Aesthetic
The main theme of my posters is the neon noir or the retro neon aesthetic. According to Miller (2020), neon-noir in cinema is a mixture of “existential trauma and highly-stylized visualizations”. Despite its loud and bright elements, this style can also be used to depict dark stories. Ranging from psychological thriller to sci-fi-romance, the films I chose commonly have the element of trauma. Therefore, the neon noir theme matches the mood and plot of these films. The layout and design of my posters consist of bold letters and bright colors. I also used some dust and paper textures for a vintage effect.
